Our beginnings are as the original Hangtown Brewery right here in Placerville, CA. Our Brew Master, Steve Meylor strives to maintain the tradition of our 1800’s heritage and fulfill the tastes of our 21st century friends. Placerville Brewing Company & Restaurant (PBC) was established in 2005 with a building facelift including our beautiful patio, an upgraded menu and our award winning beers. Steve brews our beer right there on-site. You won’t find fresher, better tasting ale unless you made it yourself. We always have our Strong Blonde Ale, Golden Ale, Pale Ale, Stout, Tangerine Ale, Boysenberry Ale and Vanilla Stout on tap. Plus Steve is regularly putting our specialty seasonal ales on tap as well, like the; Copper Ale, Bell Tower Brown, Platinum Ale (9%), Pumpkin Ale or the (530) IPA, not to mention his Ale Dorado IPA. Our restaurant menu includes our beer battered “Best Fish & Chips” in the county, Texas Style slow smoked BBQ, burgers, sandwiches, generous salads, steaks, prime rib and PBC chef inspired specials.

(8.0%) This is the Strong Blonde everyone heads to Placerville to find. Universally liked by all who try her. Others try to imitate, but never duplicated, this straw colored bombshell is our most popular ale. It is an all malt beer, generously hopped with Columbus (bitter), Hallertau (mellow & aromatic) and Tettenang (mellow & aromatic). PBC's Strong Blonde is lightly sweet, decidedly strong and not at all bitter
(5.5%) The lightest in the Precious Metal Series, this shimmering light bodied ale is refreshing and crisp. Made from two row barley, with a touch of white wheat and yellow corn to round out color and mouth feel. Imported Czech Saaz hops give a light finish,
(5.5%) Our Golden Ale with the added benefit of airy, sweet scents of citrus.
(8.8 - 9.2%) The third and most sublime in the Precious Metal Series. Think Strong Blonde brewed to a maltier, fuller bodied finish. It's "one louder."
(7.8 - 8.1%) Named for the county where she was born. An unfiltered double IPA. Generously hopped and full of smooth texture malt flavor. One look at this beer in your glass and you'll see the beauty of what beer drinkers look for in a "old school" traditional ale, with a taste as clear and delightful as a morning in the El Dorado foothills.
(6.8 - 7.2%) Malt Assault! English two row and SEVEN imported specialty malts, full bodied and lightly hopped for a symphony of smoky flavors.
(6.4%) Our Pale Ale perfectly paired with opulent boysenberry flavors.
(6.4%) The style that led the national microbrew renaissance. PBC's medium bodied Pale Ale is brewed with just the right blend of two row and Crystal malts and uses a combination of Chinook and Cascade hops. The balance of just the right maltiness, Cascade aromatics and Chinook bitters give this ale a flavor and aroma that will make other California pales "green" with envy.
(6.1%) Thirst quenching like a Heifeweizen, with the added dry finish of rye and a lemon wedge makes this a perfect summer ale.
(5.8%) Nothing like Newcastle, this fuller bodied brown stands out among browns like the bell tower in downtown Placerville, rich, caramel like character with balanced hops.
(6.5%) Who needs desert when you can have a pint of PBC's creamy, chocolaty stout. Two-row barely constitutes the bulk of the blend, but is surrounded on all fronts with the flavors of Carapils, Chocolate, and Blank Patent malts.
(6.8%) The color of a shinny new penny in a glass. Capped with a creamy white head and you're looking at one of our most popular seasonal ales. With the maltiness of two row, the distinct flavors and colors of Munich and Crystal malts and a hop blend that enhances it all and you get our complex, toasty, slightly malty, slightly hoppy and very unforgettable ale.
(6.8%) What could possibly go better with our rich chocolaty stout than bourbon vanilla?!
Not just an area code, the (530) IPA defines our lovely Placerville way of life.
Call it by its name, "4 to 5." The key to this recipe is 4 pounds to 5 barrels. That's 4 pounds of bright, fresh flowered hops, used per 5 barrels of this hoppy liquid wonder.
(5.8 - 6.2%) Malt lovers pay attention! Imported Maris two-row malt, crystal and chocolate malts, and English Fuggies hops combine into a ruby brown beer you want to hug.
(6.5 - 7.0%) This full bodied ale is creamy in texture, crimson in color, and has a malty palate that doesn't disappoint.
